Rampaging bandits have killed no fewer than 17 individuals and abducted 54 others during a six-hour operation that targeted three communities on Tuesday night in Dawaki Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Hon. Aminu Khalid, a former Councilor of the Ward, revealed these distressing details to journalists, identifying the assaulted villages as Ungwan Sako, Kunkurai, and Dokan Kaji.
Khalid added that some locals rescued 20 of the abducted villagers during a gun duel, albeit at the cost of nine lives among the rescuers. However, 34 persons remain in the bandits’ custody, with no contact established yet for ransom demands.
He said that the terrorists infiltrated the affected communities on foot, tactically positioning themselves simultaneously.
“34 of the locals are still in their custody and contact is yet to be established with the terrorists for ransom, stressing that the terrorists invaded the affected Communities on foot and took vantage positions at the same time.
“The terrorists always come from parts of Kajuru and Kachia forest where their camp is, adding that the camp is situated at Dutsen Magunguna In Kajuru Local Government Area of the State.
“Except for the Nigerian military raid the terrorist camp which is situated around certain communities can never experience peace,” Khalid added.
Efforts to obtain additional confirmation from the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Mansir Hassan proved futile as he could not be reached on his mobile phone at the time of filing this report.
