Bandits in the early hours of yesterday attacked worshippers inside a mosque at Sabon Layi, Kakangi ward in Birnin-Gwari local government area of Kaduna State, killing two persons and injuring two others.

It was gathered that the terrorists stormed the mosque in Ga Allah Babba area of Sabon Layi community and opened fire on the mosque, killing the imam and one other person instantly.

The imam of the mosque, Malam Mamuda and one Kabiru of Unguwar Ga Allah Babba were killed, while Bilya Mairabo and Ashiru Mairabo were seriously wounded and currently receiving medical attention at Jibrin Maigwari General Hospital, Birnin-Gwari.

The chairman, Birnin-Gwari vanguard for security and good governance, Ibrahim Abubakar Nagwari, who confirmed the attack said, almost on a daily basis, terrorists invade the entire Birnin-Gwari local government area, killing and abducting innocent citizens.

He said, the situation is more worrisome on Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway and has become a nightmare to travellers.

It would be recalled that only recently, terrorists killed a local hunter, Bashir Unguwar Shekarau, and two commercial drivers, Mustapha Adamu and Malam Muktar also known as ‘Teacher’ along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway of Kaduna State.
