A source who is a resident of the area confirmed the incident and said the criminals razed the community after carrying out another attack in a neighbouring village, Daddara Liman on Monday where they kidnapped about five women.

Kidnapping for ransom, killings and banditry attacks in Katsina State and neighbouring states in the north-west, has been a source of concern for years, despite government’s effort to curtail the menace. Rising cases of attacks have continued to cause fear and tension ahead of the forthcoming general election.

Meanwhile, the Katsina State police spokesperson, SP Gambo Isah, is yet to make an official statement on the latest attack at the time of going to the press.
