Calvin Bassey has pledged that Fulham will not let their European ambitions fade this season, insisting the team is determined to secure a top-seven finish in the Premier League.
Marco Silva’s side currently sit 11th in the table, but with only four points separating them from seventh place – a position likely to secure a UEFA Europa Conference League spot – the Nigerian defender believes the final eight games offer a prime opportunity.
“If you look at the last two or three seasons, we’ve been in and around it, and then the last four or five games it’s sort of got away from us, but we’re right there now,” Bassey told BeinSports.
“We’ve got eight games left, and I feel like we can really push and achieve it. We’re four points behind seventh, so it’s all very close, that’s why each game and point matters.”
Bassey added that the squad feels “so close to our goal,” with an “excitement” in the dressing room about the chance to “do something amazing, achieve something great.” He stressed the importance of taking “each game as it is.”
