BATNF Commissions, Hands Over Water Project To Enugu Community

TBritish American Tobacco Nigeria (BATN) Foundation in its ongoing commitment to community development and access to clean water has commissioned 20,000 litres solar-powered borehole at Ndeabor, Aninri LGA, Enugu State.

The borehole facility, a product of thoughtful planning and collaboration, comprises four solar panels, a robust 2.2Hp water pump, two 10,000-liter storage tanks, and strategically placed taps, all encompassed within a 70 square meter area.

The state-of-the-art facility harnesses the power of the sun to bring a reliable source of clean water to the residents of Ndeabor community.

The commissioning ceremony which took place on Monday, was witnessed by the Enugu State Commissioner for water resources, Dr Felix Nnamani together with the permanent secretary, Directors and Community members.

In his remark, the general manager of the British American Tobacco Foundation in Nigeria, Oludare Odusanya, said he was pleased to officially notify the Honourable Commissioner and residents of the community and environs of the successful completion of the solar-powered borehole facility in Ndeabor.

“This project stands as a testament to our dedication to sustainable initiatives that positively impact the lives of rural communities.

“We are particularly proud of the inclusivity and sustainability embedded in this project. By leveraging solar energy, we ensure that the facility not only addresses the immediate water needs of the community but does so in an environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner.”

In his remarks, the commissioner, on behalf of the Enugu State government, expresses his gratitude to the British American Tobacco and the contractor for their service to humanity and partnering with government in making life better for the people.

Earlier, traditional leader of Ndeabor community, H.R.H Igwe Bendiet N. Eze, thanked the British American Tobacco Foundation for providing clean water to his people.

He also stated that the project is dream come for the residents of Ndeabor and environs who for long have been praying to have reliable source of portable water.
