Bauchi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has endorsed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

During the formal adoption of Atiku yesterday, the state chairman of the ADC, Alhaji Shu’aibu Abdullahi Dankama, said the decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders, stakeholders, youths, women groups, professionals, and committed party members across the state.

According to him, the endorsement was reached after careful assessment of Nigeria’s current challenges and the urgent need for experienced, purposeful leadership.

“We have carefully assessed the present condition of our country and the urgent need for rescue, which requires an experienced, courageous, and competent leader,” he said.

Dankama noted that Nigeria is currently facing numerous challenges, including economic hardship, rising unemployment, inflation, poverty, insecurity, and growing hopelessness among citizens.

“Our people are yearning for leadership with vision, compassion, experience, and national acceptance. After careful consideration, we are convinced that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar possesses the experience, political maturity, national reach, and democratic credentials required to reposition Nigeria on the path of progress, unity, stability, and prosperity,” he stated.

He added that Atiku, as a former Vice President of Nigeria, played a significant role in socio-economic and political reforms that strengthened the private sector, encouraged investments, and expanded opportunities for millions of Nigerians.

Dankama further said Atiku’s commitment to democracy, national unity, restructuring, and inclusive governance has remained consistent over the years.

“The people of Bauchi State have a long-standing relationship with the Wazirin Adamawa. We recognise his contributions to national development and his continued commitment to the welfare of ordinary Nigerians,” he added.

He described the endorsement as a demonstration of the party’s confidence in Atiku’s capacity to provide transparent and purposeful leadership capable of restoring hope to Nigerians.

“On behalf of the leadership and members of the African Democratic Congress in Bauchi State, I wish to assure our presidential candidate of our total support, loyalty, and commitment towards ensuring victory for our great party in the 2027 general elections,” he said.

The ADC chairman also called on party members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to the ideals of justice, fairness, accountability, and good governance.

According to him, elections are won through unity, sacrifice, grassroots mobilisation, resilience, and collective determination, and he urges stakeholders to close ranks in the overall interest of the party and the nation.

He further appealed to youths and women in Bauchi State to actively participate in the democratic process, stressing that their support and votes would play a decisive role in shaping Nigeria’s future.

Dankama also commended the efforts and sacrifices of the party’s national leadership under the chairmanship of David Mark for repositioning the ADC as a formidable opposition party in the country.

He congratulated the party’s candidates for the 2027 elections, including Sen. Halliru Dauda Jika as the governorship candidate, Nazif Sulaiman Gamawa, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, and Hon. Garba Dahiru as senatorial candidates, as well as other contestants on the ADC platform in Bauchi State and across the country.

The Chairman urged party supporters, especially youths, to remain peaceful and law-abiding, and to avoid all forms of violence and indiscipline during the political process.

He stressed the need for all political activities to be conducted in accordance with the Electoral Act, the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and other regulations guiding the electoral process.
