Bauchi State government has adopted cashless transactions to address the scourge of corruption in the state’s educational system.

The state governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed disclosed this at the opening of a two-day education summit yesterday at the Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar Hajj Camp, Bauchi.

Organised by the state’s Ministry of Education, the summit is expected to come up with measures to address the decay in education of the state which defied previous administrations’ efforts.

Governor Mohammed said corrupt practices have long hindered educational progress in the state. “We have implemented modern tools such as the cashless policy and online transfers for all education-related payments. This reduces cash exchanges that may lead to theft or misappropriation of funds.

“In addition, this not only ensures the efficiency of financial transactions but also allows for the prompt punishment of individuals engaged in malpractice,” he said.
