All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kukadi/Gundari ward in Misau local government area of Bauchi State has confirmed the suspension of the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Babayo Aliyu Misau for alleged anti-party activities.
The secretary of the APC Kukadi/Gundari ward, Mr Aliyu Hassan Adamu told a press conference at NUJ Bauchi yesterday that the suspended state party chairman Babayo Aliyu was involved in anti-party activities during the just concluded governorship and House of Assembly elections, an action which significantly contributed to the failure of the party in the elections.
Adamu said they caught Aliyu red-handed on anti-party activities, hence it became imperative to take disciplinary measures against him.
Adamu said, “Executives of the Kukadi/Gundari Ward of the APC had an emergency meeting on Friday 30th March, 2023 where they adopted far reaching decisions concerning the party.
“Taking into cognisance the ways and manners the suspended state chairman of the party is conducting its activities especially as regards leadership, the ward executives decided to suspend the state APC chairman, Alh. Babayo Aliyu for clandestine activities.”
Adamu enumerated reasons for suspending the Bauchi State chairman of the party including his inability to campaign for the party.
“Based on concrete evidences advanced by party henchmen, Babayo Aliyu Misau has completely deviated from his leadership responsibilities of the APC, especially his absence at the governorship electioneering campaigns tour across the state, and for other elective offices such as national and state assembly,” he said.
The party stakeholders also discovered with concrete reasons that the suspended state chairman of the APC did not vote for his party’s governorship candidate, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar during the just concluded gubernatorial elections.
“The state APC chairman’s lackadaisical attitude to the party and its members leaves much to be desired especially in the party’s governorship election taking into cognisance his position in the party,” he said.
He explained that the decision to suspend the state chairman of the party in Bauchi is in conformity with the constitutional provisions of the party.
Reacting to the development via telephone conversation with LEADERSHIP, Babayo Aliyu Misau said, “Though they have the power to do that, the necessary procedure must be followed in order to authenticate their decision.”
According to him, “After taking such decision at the ward level, the LGA EXCO will be duly notified, all the Wards EXCO in the LGA will meet to ratify the decision after which the state EXCO will meet, concur and pass same to the national secretariat which will then accept and announce the decision.”
Misau dismissed all the allegations levelled against him saying that “they are all unfounded, malicious and unsubstantiated, mere allegations aimed at tarnishing my hard-earned political image built from the scratch.”
“Let them bring out the evidence that I did not vote for the gubernatorial candidate of the APC, the picture they are parading in the social media is a doctored photoshop just to malign my person and give false information to the general public,” he said.
On the issue of campaign funds, he challenged anyone who has concrete evidence that he collected any amount of money for that purpose to go public with such stressing that he did not collect any money for campaign purposes.
Misau therefore concluded that, “I remain the state chairman of the APC in Bauchi State, nobody can just wake up from sleep and say that he has suspended me, no, it is not possible, due process must be followed to do that.”
