The Bauchi State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a strong working relationship with the State Ministry of Information and Communication to ensure effective coverage of government policies and programmes.
Chairman of the House Committee on Information and Communication, Musa Wakili Nakwada, made this pledge during a familiarisation visit to the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Usman Shehu Usman, in his office.
Nakwada explained that the visit was both to congratulate the commissioner on his new appointment and to extend a hand of partnership in supporting the development of the state’s broadcasting industry.
He noted that Usman’s appointment did not come as a surprise, given his vast experience as a professional journalist who has worked with both local and international media organisations.
He emphasised the critical role of effective communication in driving government development initiatives, particularly at the grassroots level.
The committee chairman also commended Governor Bala Mohammed for appointing a seasoned journalist to lead the ministry and urged the commissioner to leverage his expertise in carrying out his responsibilities.
Responding, Commissioner Usman Shehu Usman expressed appreciation for the lawmakers’ visit and assured them of his commitment to engaging key stakeholders in the information and communication sector to promote government policies and programmes.
He reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to repositioning the media industry for more effective dissemination of its policies, especially at the grassroots level.
