He said going forward, to fend off all possible loopholes in administration and spending of public funds in the state, the committee will peruse all financial statements and other relevant documents of MDAs.
The chairman of the committee stated this during an oversight function visit to five local govt areas including Toro, Bauchi, Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro local government areas.
He said putting the heads of MDAs on their toes to ensure prudent expenditure of budgeted money would play a role in ensuring the quality of service delivered to the citizens.

Haruna revealed that the effectiveness and efficiency of the public accounts committee in conducting oversight over the executive have been strengthened by the state legislature over the years.

To him, the committee on public account would work closely with the 20LGAs to strengthen local govt accountability for improved service delivery at the grassroots level.

In their responses, the caretaker committee chairmen of Toro, Danlami Abubakar, Comrade Muhammad Jibo of Dass, Markus Bitrus Lusa of Bogoro and Sama’ila Wakili of Tafawa Balewa as well as the chairperson of Bauchi Local govt Zainab Baban Takko assured to redouble their efforts to ensure that a good working relationship is sustained between them and the state legislature.
