The Welfare Committee of Bauchi Central Mosque has distributed food and cash aid to 600 widows, orphans and other vulnerable individuals in Bauchi State.
Each beneficiary received five measures of rice and N5,000 during a ceremony held at the Mosque’s Conference Hall yesterday to ease the economic hardship caused by soaring food prices.
The committee’s secretary, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim Sani, explained that the initiative was part of ongoing efforts to support poor families struggling to meet basic needs.
He noted that many households have been badly affected by the rising cost of living.
Ibrahim Sani revealed that the rice distributed was provided by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad to complement the committee’s humanitarian outreach.
For his part, the Committee Chairman, Khadi Abdullahi Yakubu Marafa, commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his continued commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable citizens.
He recalled that the Committee had earlier sought the Governor’s intervention, adding that successive administrations traditionally supported the Mosque with food items, especially during Ramadan.
Expressing appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries, Sa’adatu Ahmad and Buhari Musa thanked the Governor and the Committee for the assistance, assuring that the items would be used responsibly.
They also prayed for the Governor’s success and divine reward.
