New commissioner for information and communication in Bauchi State, Usman Shehu Usman, has promised to promote a collaborative relationship with journalists in the state.
He stressed the importance of accurate and effective dissemination of government’s policies and programmes.
Usman also assured that he would strengthen digital communication and prioritise the welfare of the ministry’s staff to boost their morale and ensure better service delivery, while focusing on capacity building for staff to equip them with the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively.
The commissioner, while assuming duty on Friday, reiterated his determination to do everything humanly possible to support the state government by ensuring proper dissemination of information about its activities to the public.
He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve alongside such a dedicated and talented team, saying, “This ministry plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the government and the governed. Effective communication is not merely about disseminating information, it is also about building trust, fostering understanding and ensuring that the voices of the citizens are heard. To achieve this, I believe in the power of collaboration. I value each of you and your unique skills and expertise.
“I encourage open and honest dialogue, where we can share ideas, brainstorm solutions, and work together to overcome any challenges we may face. Our success depends on our collective efforts”.
“I pledge to work tirelessly with each of you to ensure that we effectively communicate the laudable programs and initiatives of His Excellency, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, as contained in the “My Bauchi Project” and address the communication needs of our people.”
He urged the stakeholders to come to work together to build a stronger, more informed, and more successful society through effective and impactful communication in fulfilling the responsibilities of his office, recognising the crucial need for collaboration.
