The Governorship and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Bauchi has received 45 petitions regarding the recently concluded governorship, National Assembly, and State House of Assembly elections in the state by candidates and political parties dissatisfied with the outcome of the elections.

The tribunal made this known in a statement issued to reporters in Bauchi.

According to the statement, two governorship candidates contested the announcement that Governor Bala Mohammed won the state’s governorship election on March 18.

The statement indicates that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), candidate Senator Halliru Jika, and the All Progressives Congress (APC), candidate Sadique Abubakar, a former chief of the air staff, are among the petitioners.

Others include the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) and the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), which has Ahmed Umar-Farouk as its candidate.

Similarly, 10 petitions were for the House of Representatives, 10 for the State House of Assembly elections, and 5 were for the senatorial elections, which was held on February 25 and March 18, respectively.

Petitions regarding the elections for the Shira/Giade, Katagum, Zaki, Jama’are/Itas, Ningi/Warji, and Bauchi federal constituencies had been submitted to the tribunal.

Other elections included those for the general constituencies of Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa, Misau/Dambam, Alkaleri/Kirfi, and Ganjuwa/Darazo.

While there were three petitions contesting the election for the Bauchi North senatorial district, there was only one petition each for the elections in Bauchi Central and Bauchi South senatorial districts.
