Wife of the Bauchi State governor, Hajiya Aishatu Bala Mohammed, has called on parents, teachers and relevant authorities to work together to address the growing problem of moral decadence and social vices in society.
She made the call yesterday during a Ramadan preaching programme organised by her office in collaboration with the Bauchi State Hisbah.
At the event, Hajiya Aishatu Bala said the programme was designed to discuss pressing societal challenges and explore practical ways of addressing them.
According to her, moral decline, increasing social challenges and the abuse of women and children remain major concerns that require urgent attention from all stakeholders.
She emphasised that parents, particularly fathers, have a crucial responsibility to guide their children and protect them from engaging in harmful activities.
The governor’s wife also noted that government efforts alone cannot effectively tackle these problems without the active support and cooperation of parents, religious leaders and the wider community.
Earlier, the commissioner of the Bauchi State Hisbah, Barr Aminu Balarabe Isa, said the programme was aimed at raising public awareness about the dangers of moral decadence in society.
He disclosed that the commission recently uncovered a house in Bauchi where some individuals were allegedly involved in fraudulent activities under the guise of providing spiritual solutions to people’s problems.
According to him, some idols were recovered from the premises, while the suspect reportedly fled before authorities arrived.
Barr Isa also urged Islamic scholars to intensify public enlightenment efforts, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
