Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, has formalised a landmark strategic framework agreement with the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, under the China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council aimed at boosting investment promotion and bilateral cooperation.
Governor Mohammed described the MoU as a “skeleton of collaboration” covering critical sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, infrastructure, trade facilitation, mining, and oil and gas. While it outlines broad areas of engagement.
The governor explained that specific agreements would be signed on a case-by-case basis as individual projects emerge.
The governor noted that the initiative builds on the cooperation framework established between President Xi Jinping and President Bola Tinubu, and was designed to accelerate partnerships that improve living standards and drive economic growth across Bauchi State.
In a pioneering move, Governor Mohammed appointed Mr. Li Zhensheng, chairman of the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, as economic adviser to the Bauchi State government, making Bauchi the first Nigerian state to engage a Chinese expert in this capacity.
Mr. Li pledged to mobilise the centre’s global resources to support Bauchi’s economic development, upgrade infrastructure, and enhance livelihoods, assuring that all agreed projects will be implemented successfully.
