Bauchi State governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing ongoing projects and sustaining good governance despite financial constraints and political developments in the state.
The governor gave the assurance yesterday when he presided over the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting at the Government House, Bauchi.
Governor Mohammed described the period from February to now as challenging, following the political transition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in compliance with court rulings.
According to him, despite the political distractions, his administration has remained focused on governance, project execution and effective service delivery to the people of the state.
Mohammed commended members of the Council and political allies who remained loyal during the transition period, saying their support demonstrated unity and collective responsibility in leadership.
He also appreciated the leadership of the APM for accommodating members of the former PDP structure, while wishing those who resigned from the government well as they pursue elective positions.
The governor disclosed that dwindling revenue inflows, delays in federal allocations and unfulfilled borrowing plans had negatively affected the state’s financial strength and budget performance.
He, however, stated that the administration had continued to prudently manage available resources to ensure that no government project was abandoned.
Mohammed further stated that his administration was placing emphasis on the education sector, alongside ongoing investments in road infrastructure, healthcare services, and other critical sectors, despite prevailing financial constraints.
He added that the Executive Council would deliberate on reports and white papers regarding administrative panels of inquiry, investigations into alleged financial misappropriation and reforms to strengthen transparency and accountability in governance.
The governor assured the state’s residents that his administration would continue to uphold democratic principles by encouraging healthy political competition and tolerance across party lines.
