The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Muhammed, has been commended for his approval of N60 million for 3-year counterpart funding ahead of time of Livestock Productivity and Resilience Enhancement Project (L-PRES) in the state to foster economic resilience and livelihood improvement in the communities.
The state coordinator L-PRES programme, Musa Adamu One gave the commendation while speaking with journalists in Bauchi yesterday.
Musa Adamu One said the state performed above all the states of the federation, which qualified it to be among the first 20 states in L-PRES and the only two states, Bauchi and Kano, to benefit from Livestock Service Centre (LS-C) in the country.
He said Governor Bala Muhammed has already created a ministry for Livestock Development with an experienced Commissioner. The governor also surpassed the 100-hectare requirement of the World Bank by offering 200 hectares at Galanbi Grazing Land.
On the approach and successes of the project so far, Musa One explained that the project is all- encompassing, carrying along all stakeholders from government institutions and all relevant personnel, traditional and community leaders, herdsmen and the security apparatus.
He added that more than 10 capacity building workshops have been organised, part of which about 50 people have been sent to Shika ABU for training in aspects of artificial insemination to prepare for establishing such a centre in the state School of Agriculture.
