Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has directed the rehabilitation and upgrade of facilities at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi to ensure standard in the operations in line with Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA’s) guidelines.
The permanent secretary of the state’s Ministry of Works, Engr Hamisu Garba Mohammed, disclosed this to journalists yesterday after inspecting the ongoing work at the airport.
Garba said the rehabilitation project cut across water management, generating sets, air conditioners, X-ray screening machines and other structures in the airport.
He said the state government had procured modern communication gadgets to ensure effective communication in the airport’s operations and added that a solar system had been installed to provide alternative power supply.
The permanent secretary expressed gratitude to Governor Mohammed for his administration’s investment in the transport industry and promised that the 2024 hajj operation would be conducted at the airport without any hitches.
He described the governor’s intervention in addressing the operational challenges at the airport as commendable and urged the stakeholders to support the state government to improve its economy through the industry.
