This was announced by the State’s Project Coordinator of AGILE, Ali Usman Gar, during a stakeholders meeting on AGILE Girls Scholarship Programme (GSP), held at the Bauchi LGA secretariat on Thursday.

The meeting, which brought together key stakeholders from the Bauchi Local Government Area, focused on the importance of providing access to quality education for girls and ensuring their continuous enrollment in school.

According to Gar, the 2,000 out of the teachers to be recruited will be assigned to junior secondary schools, while the remaining 1,000 will be posted to senior secondary schools, adding that the strategic deployment of teachers was expected to enhance the quality of education in secondary schools across the state, improving learning outcomes for all students, particularly girls.

Gar also announced that a total of 20,250 girls will benefit from the Girls Scholarship Programme (GSP) of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) in the first phase.

“Governor Bala Mohammed’s approval of the recruitment is in line with his administration’s ongoing educational reforms aimed at improving school standards and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

“The recruitment exercise is designed to bolster the teaching workforce, thereby addressing the growing demand for qualified educators in Bauchi State,” he said.

“Governor Mohammed’s initiative to recruit additional teachers is a key part of the state’s strategy to enhance the educational sector and align with the objectives of the AGILE project.”

Gar further stated that Governor Mohammed has also approved that another 40,000 girls be chosen to benefit in the second phase, just as another 50,000 girls have been proposed to benefit in the third and final phase of the implementation of the project.

AGILE Project is a project by the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the state government with funding by the World Bank. It focuses on providing scholarships, educational resources, and skill-building opportunities to adolescent girls with the aims to equip young girls with the tools necessary for personal and professional development, ensuring that they are better prepared to contribute to their communities and the broader society.
