The Bauchi State Special Schools Management Board has removed the vice principal (Academics) of Jibril Aminu Model Secondary School and demoted her to a classroom teacher for administering severe corporal punishment to a student.
The decision was reached at an emergency meeting of the board’s senior management committee, which reviewed reports of the incident that sparked concern among parents and education stakeholders.
The board chairman, Babangida Barau Jibrin, confirmed the action and appealed for calm from parents and guardians.
He said the matter was being handled with utmost seriousness.
Jibrin said the disciplinary measures would follow after a thorough investigation.
He said while the board remains committed to instilling discipline in schools, such measures must conform to modern educational standards that protect students’ rights and well-being.
He reaffirmed the board’s resolve to ensure quality teaching and effective school management throughout the state, adding that any staff member found to be violating ethical conduct would face appropriate sanctions.
