The Bauchi State Government has directed all political appointees who intend to contest for any elective position in the forthcoming party primary elections to resign their appointments on or before Friday, April 24, 2026, if they have not already done so.
This directive was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s special adviser on media and publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, who said it was in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 (as amended).
Gidado explained, “This directive is in line with statutory requirements governing the participation of public office holders in electoral processes and is aimed at ensuring full compliance with the law.”
The government expressed appreciation to the affected appointees for their service and contributions to the development of Bauchi State, and wished them success in their future endeavours.
“All such appointees are further directed to hand over all government property in their possession, as well as the responsibilities of their offices, to the appropriate officer within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs),” Gidado emphasised
