Bauchi State government has raised the alarm over the activities of a criminal syndicate defrauding unsuspecting job seekers by promising them non-existent employment opportunities in its civil service.

The state head of Service, Barr. Muhammad Sani Umar, issued the warning in a press statement made available to journalists yesterday. He condemned the actions of “Unscrupulous elements” extorting money from desperate applicants under the guise of securing civil service jobs.

Barr. Sani reiterated that the government had earlier launched an official online recruitment portal to ensure transparency, merit, and equal opportunity in its hiring process.

He explained that all applicants who submitted their details through the portal would be contacted through authorised channels as the recruitment process reaches its concluding stage.

The statement, signed by Mohammed Bello Ahmed, reminded the public that the online application process was introduced to guarantee fair access to employment opportunities in the state service.

It cautioned job seekers to disregard any unofficial messages, payment requests, or lobbying attempts claiming to influence recruitment outcomes, stressing that such schemes are fraudulent and not endorsed by the government.
