Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has assured the people of his administration’s determination to continue making the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Monument a better place for historical artefacts of the late Nigerian prime minister.
The governor gave the assurance during the 2025 annual memorial lecture and prayer for the late prime minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, organised by the state government to commemorate his contributions to the nation held at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Tomb in Bauchi.
Represented by the commissioner for culture and tourism, Alhaji Abdul Hassan, the governor described the late prime minister as a visionary leader who championed the nation’s independence and recalled his commitment to justice and fairness.
Bala charged the present leaders to uphold the virtue of common good and called on the younger generation to study and emulate the noble habit of the late prime minister.
Governor Mohammed stated that his administration in collaboration with the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) remodeled the late prime minister’s monument and the museum to maintain the dignity of the nation’s hero and history and promised to maintain the tempo.
Also speaking on behalf of the commissioner, the permanent secretary in the ministry of culture and tourism, Mrs Liyatu M Gayus, appreciated the state governor for the approval and remodeling of the tomb which clearly demonstrated his administration’s intention to the state’s development and the country at large.
