Bauchi Govt Warns New District Heads Against Illegal Activities

Bauchi State government has warned newly appointed district heads against violating public policies or engaging in illegal activities.

The government reaffirmed the its commitment to strengthening the traditional institution through the construction of official palaces and payment of monthly salaries.

The warning was issued by the chairman of the state government supervisory committee on the swearing-in of newly appointed district heads and commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Usman Shehu Usman, during the committee’s visit to Katagum, Jama’are and Gamawa Emirates on behalf of Governor Bala Mohammed.

At the ceremonies, the Emir of Katagum, Umar Faruq II, administered the oath of office on 98 district heads, the Emir of Jama’are, Nuhu Muhammad Wabi, swore in 37 district heads. The Emir of Gamawa, Adamu Abdulkadir Adamu, inaugurated 38 district heads.

The Emirs congratulated the newly appointed traditional rulers and urged them to discharge their duties with the fear of Allah, integrity, honesty, loyalty and an unwavering commitment to peace, justice and the development of their communities.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Bala Mohammed, Hon. Usman Shehu Usman reminded the District Heads that their appointments were a sacred trust that demanded accountability and exemplary leadership.

He warned them against participating in or condoning illegal activities, including unauthorised logging, bush burning, illegal charcoal production and the unlawful sale of government or forest lands.
