The foundation also called on stakeholders and development donors assist Jigawa sickle cell patients with shelter, clothing and medication.

The chairman of the state Sickle Cell Aid Foundation, Muhammad Kafi Liman, who made the plea in an interview with LEADERSHIP, appealed to governments, organisations and wealthy to assist the patients.

“We are appealing to Buhari’s government to provide free medications to the sickle cell patients in villages and remote areas within Jigawa so as to give relief to the patients as a result of high price and shortage of the medicines in the state following the collapsed of some interstate bridges caused by flood,” Liman said.

They also drew the attention of Jigawa State government to the plight of sickle cell patients in the state which has been occasioned by the heavy flooding.
