Members of the Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) have passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the State Working Committee of the Union led by Comrade Umar Sa’idu.

The decision of the journalists was based on their satisfaction with the numerous achievements recorded within the last three years of the current NUJ Executive Committee.

In a communique issued at the end of the May Congress of the Union held at NUJ State Secretariat in Bauchi, members recommended for a second tenure in office for the entire executives.

Meanwhile, the Congress ratified the nomination of a seven-member electoral committee for onward transmission to the National Secretariat for approval, to conduct fresh elections in to the offices of the State Working Committee members of the Union.

It urged members of the Union to continue to operate within the ambit of NUJ constitution and code of ethics to avoid misinformation and ensure that they fact-check their stories to uphold their integrity which is instrumental to the pillars of democracy.
