Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has urged both the State and Federal governments to provide succour to the people of the state who were affected by various incidences of flooding in the state.

The union, in a statement signed by its secretary Isah Garba Gadau, after its monthly State Working Committee (SWC) meeting, described the extent of the floods as devastating several communities have been cut off from the state with hundreds of thousands of farmlands washed away while other properties worth millions of naira destroyed.

The most hit local government areas according to the statement include Gamawa and Zaki which could not be accessed now until one goes through Jigawa and Yobe States.

As a result, life in these communities as well as the remaining local governments are continuously becoming very difficult hence the need for urgent government intervention.
