The proposed Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy in Alkakeri local government area of the state will empower teeming Bauchi and Gombe states’ youths and other Nigerians through jobs creation.
Bauchi State commissioner for natural resources and development, Muhammad Maiwada, stated this yesterday in a press statement.
He said the idea to establish the academy was conceived by the Bauchi State government as a result of the discovery of Kolmani oil around Bauchi and Gombe states with a view to training youths in oil and gas courses.
According to him, the academy when established, will enable its students to be employed in oil and gas companies, thereby empowering them economically.
“The academy will offer internationally recognised certificates, ensuring its graduates can secure competitive roles in Nigeria’s energy sector and beyond.
“The curriculum will cover critical areas such as drilling technology, petroleum engineering, safety management, and equipment operation. This academy is not just for the two states, it is a national asset,” the commissioner stated.
