Bauchi Partners Dutch Agency On Agriculture

Bauchi State Agricultural Development Programme (BSADP) is partnering SNV, a Netherlands Development Organisation, to boost agriculture and provide opportunities for farmers.

Speaking in an interactive session with an SNV delegation in Bauchi, the programme manager of BSADP, Akilu Abdulkarim said SNV would bring its technical expertise to develop various sectors of the Bauchi agric economy.

He said the partnership would also empower youths and women farmers in the state.

Country representative of SNV in Nigeria, David Stanley, said the initiative ia aimed at reaching 1.5 million smallholder farmers across four countries including Nigeria, Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, with a strong focus on women and youths.

He explained that BSADP was identified as a key partner in this mission due to its strategic role in farmer interventions and activities around watershed areas.

Mr Stanley said the programme is a 10-year project targeting the reclamation of 2 million hectares of land across these countries, with 800,000 hectares specifically in Nigeria involving the 19 northern states.
