The Bauchi State Government has partnered with Protexxa Inc, a rapidly growing Canadian organisation dedicated to enhancing digital safety by helping businesses identify and address cyber vulnerabilities, to deliver the Cyber Nations Initiative Cybersecurity Training Programme.
Protexxa will now extend its expertise to Bauchi through this strategic alliance.
The initiative aims to empower youths and professionals with globally competitive skills that can lead to high-demand careers in the cybersecurity industry.
The Cyber Nations Initiative is a Canada-based coalition of global leaders working to train and employ 100,000 African, Caribbean, and Canadian learners in the global cybersecurity workforce.
Speaking to LEADERSHIP on the initiative yesterday, the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Usman Shehu Usman, said this programme follows a series of strategic engagements by the Bauchi State Government, including a recent bilateral mission to Canada.
He said the training is designed to provide participants with essential knowledge and practical tools to succeed in the rapidly expanding cybersecurity sector.
The commissioner said successful trainees would be equipped for careers in key cybersecurity roles, including Cybersecurity Analysts, responsible for monitoring systems to prevent and detect security breaches and Vulnerability Analysts, who identify system weaknesses and potential risks.
Other opportunities, he added, include Incident Responders, tasked with handling and mitigating cybersecurity incidents and Cyber Literacy Coordinators, who lead awareness campaigns and conduct cybersecurity training simulations.
He added that the programme is open to individuals passionate about cybersecurity, including graduates and professionals seeking a career transition into the field.
Shehu further noted that the programme is ideal for candidates aiming to earn industry-recognised certifications. He stated that eligible applicants must be 18 years or older and must be citizens and residents of Bauchi State.
Applicants must have completed high school (with post-secondary education considered an added advantage), demonstrate digital literacy, and possess an IT background or relevant experience.
“Applicants must exhibit strong English reading and writing skills, maintain a clear security record, and be committed to a full-time schedule of at least 30 hours per week,” he added.
According to him application Portal Opens from Tuesday, April 15, 2025, “Interested candidates are encouraged to prepare their documents and apply promptly once the portal goes live on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Further details on the application process and training schedule will be made available through official channels.”
Commissioner Shehu emphasised that this partnership underscores the Bauchi State Government’s dedication to digital inclusion, youth empowerment, and socio-economic development through innovative collaborations.
