The member representing Ganjuwa/Darazo federal constituency, Hon. Mansur Manu Soro, has distributed over 2,566 bags of free NPK fertiliser (15-15-15) to 2,566 dry season farmers in his constituency.
He also launched the first batch of 150 luminous solar street lights (Wakatec brand, 100 watts) for installation at 150 targeted Tsangaya schools in Ganjuwa/Darazo federal constituency.
Speaking during yesterday’s distribution flagging off, Mansur said the development followed the enumeration and clustering of the farmers conducted weeks back in the 17 wards of the constituency where irrigation farmlands are cultivated.
The lawmaker recalled that in 2023 he launched the free distribution of fertiliser to dry season farmers (the first of its kind in Darazo-Ganjuwa federal constituency) in Bula irrigation farmlands of Gabarin ward, Darazo local government area, where about 2,000 farmers benefitted.
He stated that, “This agricultural intervention is independent of the rainy season support we had institutionalised in Darazo-Ganjuwa federal constituency on annual basis, in which an estimated 15,000 bags of fertilizers, tractor among other farm implements were shared to farmers free of charge.”
On the solar street lights, the House of Representatives member disclosed that, “Our resolve to prioritize public places for the solar installation lies in the need to ensure maximum resource use for the greater number of our constituents.”
He warned that none of the solar lights should be installed in a private space and assured that the 2nd batch of the installation of another 128 units of solar lights is due in the middle of January 2025.
He then called on the beneficiaries, comprising farmers and Tsangaya Schools, to make good use of the interventions.
