The senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Buba Umar, has distributed 21,000 bags of Golden Penny Semovita to the underprivileged individuals across Bauchi State as part of his ongoing efforts to support communities.
Speaking during the flag-off distribution on Sunday in Bauchi, Senator Buba said that providing food and basic necessities has been one of his regular humanitarian initiatives since assuming office.
“This gesture is part of our ongoing efforts to support families in need. We have distributed various food items in the past and will continue to do more,” he stated.
He also commended the committee overseeing the exercise for their honesty and transparency in past distributions, urging them to maintain fairness and ensure the relief materials reach genuine beneficiaries.
Senator Buba welcomed the defection of Senator Sama’ila Dahuwa of Bauchi North from the PDP to the APC, expressing optimism that their collaboration would strengthen efforts to improve the welfare of Bauchi people.
On his part, Abdulkadir Lawal Gyengyen, chairman of the distribution committee and state organising secretary of the APC, explained that each of the seven local government areas under Bauchi South would receive 1,000 bags, while the remaining 13 LGAs in the state would get 500 bags each.
He added that other beneficiaries include women and youth groups, APC members, and community organisations.
While flagging off distribution for Bauchi local government area, held at the Federal Low-Cost Juma’at Mosque, Senator Buba also donated N10,000 each to 1,000 women, in addition to the Semovita sacks, to further ease their burden.
Dr. Usman Ibrahim Giade urged the beneficiaries to use the items judiciously to support their families, while Halima Ibrahim Abdullahi, who delivered the vote of thanks, appreciated the senator for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.
Aminu Muhammad Danmaliki and Sabo Muhammad, lauded Senator Buba’s consistent commitment to education, empowerment, and social welfare, noting that he is sponsoring many students both within and outside Nigeria.
“Senator Shehu Buba Umar is one of the few lawmakers who remain genuinely concerned about the plight of their constituents,” Sabo Muhammad said.
