Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Suleiman, has charged members of the Bauchi State Youth Parliament to embrace selfless service and see themselves as partners in shaping the future of the state.
He gave the charge during the Youth Parliament members’ induction workshop held at the Yankari Game Reserve.
The workshop, organised for members representing different constituencies in the Youth Parliament, trained them on legislative processes, ethics, and effective service delivery.
Speaker Suleiman congratulated the new parliamentarians on a smooth transition and commended them for organising the workshop.
He noted that the forum, which brought together legislators, jurists, and stakeholders, would help expose the members to the dos and don’ts of lawmaking.
He further expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for providing the resources and enabling environment for the event, urging the young parliamentarians to emulate the governor’s leadership style.
“This induction is not just ceremonial but a platform to equip you with knowledge that must be put into practice. You are not only leaders of tomorrow but partners in reshaping today and the future,” the speaker said, assuring them of the Assembly’s full support and cooperation.
Also speaking, the state commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Adamu Babayo Gabarin, described the youth as innovators and legacy builders through policy engagement.
He encouraged them to pursue education, acquire skills, and venture into entrepreneurship.
For his part, the speaker of the Bauchi Youth Parliament, Hon. Mohammed Idris Musa, praised the speaker of the State Assembly for his presence and continuous support and for inspiring the young lawmakers.
The royal father of the occasion, the Sarkin Yalwan Duguri, Alh. Ibrahim Y. M. Baba, lauded the workshop’s historic nature and urged participants to maximise the opportunity.
