The Bauchi State Government has appointed Rt. Hon. Danlami Ahmed Kawule as Commander-in-Chief of the State Forest Guards to strengthen the state’s security and environmental protection efforts.
Consequently, the development has drawn widespread commendations from security experts and stakeholders, who have praised the move.
Foremost among those applauding the decision is Ambassador Dr. John Metchie, who described Hon. Kawule’s appointment as “a strategic and timely decision that strengthens Bauchi State’s environmental and internal security architecture.”
Amb. Metchie highlighted that the new Forest Guards Commander brings a strong mix of discipline, operational insight, and administrative competence to the role.
According to him, such expertise is especially vital at a time when issues of forest protection, environmental safety, and internal security are deeply interconnected.
“Rt. Hon. Kawule is not just another Commander; he is a professional who understands security as a system, rooted in training, discipline, intelligence gathering, and community collaboration,” Amb. Metchie said.
He further praised Hon. Kawule’s structured and professional approach to security operations and personnel training, noting that effective forest security must go beyond enforcement to embrace capacity development, ethical standards, and continuous collaboration with host communities.
Amb. Metchie expressed optimism that under Hon. Kawule’s leadership, the Bauchi State Forest Guard would transform into a more proactive, intelligence-led, and well-trained security unit. He also noted that the appointment aligns seamlessly with Hon. Kawule’s broader responsibilities as Commissioner of Housing and Environment in the state.
Describing the development as a clear demonstration of political will, Amb. Metchie said the appointment underscored the Bauchi State Government’s determination to enhance security and safeguard forest resources, in harmony with the broader security agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, coordinated by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
He added that the strengthened forest security framework would help tackle criminal activities such as kidnapping and banditry, while promoting standardized security practices across forested and vulnerable areas of the state.
As congratulatory messages continue to emerge, analysts believed Rt. Hon. Kawule’s leadership will usher in a new era for forestry and environmental security in Bauchi State, one anchored on discipline, professionalism, and measurable impact.
For Amb. Metchie and many within the security community, the appointment represents more than an elevation in office; it is a renewed call to service, one they are confident that Rt. Hon. Kawule, FCFA Barden Arewan Bauchi, is fully equipped to fulfill.
