The plan spans from 2024 to 2034 and will specifically focus on key areas such as healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, youth and women development, and industrialisation.

The state commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning and Multilateral Cooperation, Hon. Aminu Hammayo, said the long-term plan would address youth restlessness by leveraging ICT and digital economic transformation and equally promote inclusiveness in governance.

Hon. Aminu Hammayo explained that the development plan, which was yesterday approved by the State Executive Council, will also address issues such as unregistered colleges of education and the manpower needs of the state.

According to the state commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Lydia Tsammani, the council has approved the immediate closure of such institutions and directed the state Ministry of Higher Education to conduct a discreet investigation into the matter.

Furthermore, the council approved an intensive training programme for state youths, to be conducted in collaboration with the Federal Government’s ICT Bureau for communication.

The director general, Bureau for Information and Communication, Hayatuddeen Babama’aji, explained that the training aims to create an ICT-enabled environment. As such, the council has ratified the bureau’s change of scope to the State Bureau for ICT and Digital Economy.

Earlier, the commissioner for information and communication, Usman Ɗanturaki, opined that the comprehensive approach to development demonstrates the Bauchi State government’s commitment to creating a sustainable and prosperous future for its citizens.
