Bauchi State Commissioner of Lands and Survey, Abdullahi Mohammed has stressed the need for every critical stakeholder to contribute constructively to the establishment of the Bauchi New City, which will be demarcated along Ningi Road in the Bauchi metropolitan area of the state.
Alh. Abdullahi Mohammed spoke on Monday during the public presentation and hearing on the concepts and plans for the Bauchi New Town Project for inputs from critical stakeholders.
He revealed that the Bauchi New Town has about 1,200 hectares of land, and consultants have done the surveying, planning, engineering drawings and electricals, among others.
“So in his own vision, His Excellency, the Executive Governor decided to put up an anticipatory particular new town project. We believe each and every one of us here can contribute constructively, so I want to present a prototype of the Bauchi new city situated along Ningi Road”, the commissioner said.
The commissioner therefore requested inputs from all the stakeholders, stressing that “Is no more a question of top to bottom, it is about bottom to top. And this is what we are asked to do, as I look forward to very constructive contributions from all of you”.
He expressed his belief that they are capable of doing that and put up their final draft on what could be done for the final presentation to the state government, adding, “We believe each and every one of us here can contribute constructively, so I want to present the prototype of the Bauchi new city for consideration.”
The general manager of the Bauchi State Physical Planning and Development Control Board, Ibrahim Muhammad, stressed the need to reach out to the people and explain the mission of the new vision to them.
Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad, who is also a Town Planning Inspector, said that the second aspect of the new vision is the improvement of the lives of the citizens of Bauchi State, which requires looking at education, health, security of lives, economic issues as well as the quality of the environment.
