Prominent Bayelsa traditional ruler, HRH Samuel Sambo, has congratulated Justice Stephen Adah, on his recent appointment as a Justice of the Supreme Court by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Justice Adah (representing North-Central) was one of the 11 Justices appointed by the President to fill the vacancies in the apex court.
This followed the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC) and the subsequent confirmation by the National Assembly on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
The monarch, in a congratulatory statement made available to journalists on Friday, said Justice Adah’s appointment was well-deserved given that he has demonstrated a high level of integrity, competence and patriotism all through his legal career.
According to him, Justice Adah possessed the requisite qualifications and experience to become a Supreme Court judge.
He further expressed the belief that the newly appointed Justice will continue to dispense credible judgments that will restore the good image of the Nigerian judiciary.
Sambo, who is the paramount ruler of Sambo-Ama in Twon Brass Kingdom of Bayelsa State, noted that Adah’s appointment was not only a feat that tells a story of personal achievement but one that also reflects his journey of hard work and perseverance.
“Justice Stephen Adah is my good and bosom friend. He is a very nice person who has an incredible knack for doing what is right at all times since we were young men.
“His appointment as one of the eleven newly-appointed Supreme Court justices does not come as a surprise to me because I’ve known him to be a hardworking man of high integrity and character all through his legal profession.
“Therefore, I knew it was only a matter of time before he makes it to the top echelon of his profession because he does not only possess the right values to be a judge at the apex court but also the requisite qualifications and experience,” the monarch partly said in the statement.
The traditional ruler, however, tasked his friend as well as the other new justices to remain sterling interpreters of the law, knowing that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man.
He prayed for his friend for God’s continuous guidance and will to always stand on the truth while dispensing his duties as a justice in the apex court.
Sambo also commended President Tinubu for nominating quintessential justices upon the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC).
He added that expediting the confirmation process by the Senate was a testament to the justices’ qualification for the role with no petition against them.
