Electoral officials and materials arrived early in most of the Wards in Yenagoa local government area of Bayelsa State ahead of this Saturday’s governorship election.
However, there were indications that the election may not hold as scheduled in Sagbama local government area of the state, following the capsising of the boat conveying some electoral officers and materials from Yenagoa, the state capital to the area on Friday.
Although no life was lost in the incident, the materials as well as personal belongings of the INEC staff were not recovered.

Voting materials arrived in most polling units in the state capital as early as 8:03am Saturday morning.
When LEADERSHIP visited Unit 002 and Unit 009 in Ward 6, Kpansia, in Yenagoa local government area, voters were seen checking their names on the voter lists pasted at the polling centres.
A female personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who pleaded for anonymity, said skirmishes that came up earlier amongst agents of political parties at Unit 009 had been resolved.
