The 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero hosted the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation’s annual ‘zikr’ prayer session at the Nassarawa Mini Palace on Friday.
The annual zikr led by Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi under the Supreme Council of the Tijjaniyya Movement in Nigeria, brings together Tijjaniyya adherents from across the country to seek divine intervention for the peace and prosperity on Nigeria.
The tradition of Friday ‘dhikr,’ observed weekly from Asr to Maghrib prayers, forms an essential part of the Tijjaniyya practices.
The origin of this specific zikr for national peace dates back to a meeting between Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi and the late Alhaji Ado Bayero.
The Emir’s approval and subsequent promotion of the practice established it as an annual event, fostering unity and spiritual renewal among Tijjaniya faithful.
Since its inception, Muslims from around the world have converged on Kano every Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, to participate in the Friday dhikr.
This year, the prayer session was hosted by Bayero and saw the attendance of prominent Tijjaniya leaders from various Northern states.
