General Mamuda spoke as the special guest of honour at the 2024 Joint Nigerian Army West African Social Activities for all Nigerian Army Schools and Units within Zaria held at the Depot NA Parade Ground at the weekend.

He reminded them of the need to maintain the Nigerian Army’s core values, which include loyalty, self-service, courage, discipline, integrity, and respect for others.

He said this is a gentle reminder as he believes that their commanders at all levels periodically speak about them.

The special guest of honour charged them to remain focused and highly resilient to all forms of distractions that could affect their ability to discharge duties professionally in accordance with global best practices.

He said this is particularly important now that the Nigerian Army is engaged in many operational tasks to ensure peace and stability across the country.

Maj. Gen. Mamuda commended officers and soldiers in Zaria for their discipline and dedication to duty in 2024.

In his welcome address, the depot commandant of the Nigerian Army, Major General MA Abdullahi, said that in 2025, Nigerian Army Schools and Units within Zaria will redouble their efforts and be guided in line with the philosophy of COAS, which is to “consolidate the transformation of the NA towards bequeathing a well-motivated and combat-ready force capable of discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a Joint and multi-agency environment.”

He said, “We should remember the importance of our cultural heritage and the values that make it strong and honour the sacrifices of our fallen heroes who have defended our nation’s unity and sovereignty.

The commandant said WASA has transformed over the years and now entails analysing and reviewing the concluded year as well as making projections for the new calendar year.

He said, “WASA is a ceremony meant to bring personnel families together in the spirit of comradeship while displaying the best of their cultural practices, music, and dance.”

According to him, it is an opportunity for them to relax, socialise and strengthen the bonds that unite them as one Nigerian Army family at the end of a concluded year.

General Abdullahi expressed his profound gratitude to the special guest of honour and other guests for gracing the celebration.
