The mercurial musician, Beautiful Nubia, is at the thick of what he loves to do best – playing music and serenading fans with his brand of melodious music.
Beautiful Nubia and the Roots Renaissance Band will entertain at Ibadan today, February 28, 2026, at 1 Soun Ajagungbade Avenue in Ibadan, the ancient city.
The contemporary folk singer, known for using his music to make his fans reflect on life, aside from dancing and relishing the moment, has continued to perform live for more than three decades now, and he seems to be slowing down.
He will be home in Lagos at his base, Ikeja GRA, ready to entertain his numerous fans on Sunday, March 22, 2026. Beyond the allure of afrobeats music and its razzmatazz, Beautiful Nubia has continued to carve his niche and produce music that connects to the soul.
His annual EniObanke Music Festival (EMUfest) is always a delight. With 20 studio albums and 8 acoustic albums, the musician, who is a trained veterinarian, is not one to be put in a box. His songs Jangbalajùgbú, Voice From Heaven, Seven Lifes, Iwa, Taabaku, and the evergreen Owuro Lojo have found their way into the homes of many.
His 360-page autobiography, titled Sounds Of Joy, details the artist’s story from his 1968 birth to the release of his iconic Jangbalajugbu album in 2002. The piece of work is one of his six books that will be available at the upcoming concerts in Ibadan and Lagos.
Formed and fronted by songwriter and poet Segun Akinlolu (Beautiful Nubia), the group’s songs and albums have achieved cult status among its loyal and growing fans worldwide. Segun Akinlolu is an advocate of social reform and achieves this via his folk music. He has dedicated his lifetime to the enduring belief in the power of change; that our society is not irredeemable; that its inherent dysfunction is correctable.
