The Benin Consultative Forum (BCF) yesterday described the late former Inspector General of Police, Dr. Solomon Arase, as a towering figure who introduced innovative policies into the Nigerian Police Force.
The group said the demise of Arase has thrown the body into mourning following his sudden demise last Sunday.
rase, who served as the 18th Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force, was widely celebrated for his role in modernising the Force.
In a statement signed by the vice president of the forum, Hon. Samson R. Osagie and secretary-general, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, the BCF said Arase was an acknowledged intelligence cop within the global security network.
They recalled his contributions to police reforms, intelligence, law enforcement, and scholarship, especially through his writings on internal security and electoral management.
“His life of service also included scholarly enterprise as he strove to put his years of experience in the security and civil relations sectors to the benefit of society with his books which bore prescriptions of how to advance Nigeria’s internal security and electoral management.
“For us at the BCF, we believe, just as his wider circle of friends do, that Arase’s membership of the Body of Benchers was a confirmation of his unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, the rule of law, and service to humanity.”
Until his passing, Arase was the immediate past Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), where he brought innovative ideas to the management of the Police Service.
