The Padel Federation of Nigeria (PFN) has officially be launched, marking a significant step in the development of one of the world’s fastest-growing sports within the country. The new federation aims to govern, regulate, promote, and develop padel across Nigeria.
Babajimi Adegoke Benson has been named President of the PFN, with Alain Semaan taking on the role of Vice President. The PFN will establish a formal framework to drive the sport’s rapid expansion, overseeing national competitions, coach and referee development, youth programs, and Nigeria’s participation in international padel events.
President Benson expressed enthusiasm about the future, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce a formal structure for padel in Nigeria. Our mission is to grow grassroots participation, raise competitive standards, and create clear pathways for Nigerian players to compete at regional and global levels.”
Vice President Semaan highlighted the importance of collaboration, adding, “Together with the Federation, clubs, partners, and communities, we will expand access to world-class facilities, quality coaching, and structured competition opportunities across Nigeria.”
The PFN will collaborate closely with Magic Sports Limited, leveraging their expertise in facility development and grassroots programming. The Federation’s mandate includes establishing national rules, organizing tournaments, implementing talent identification, developing certification programs, and forging partnerships to expand facilities and initiatives.
The launch of the PFN signals a new era for padel in Nigeria, aiming to build a vibrant and competitive national community and position the country within the global padel landscape. The Federation invites all stakeholders to join in shaping the future of the sport.
