Benue: Aondoakaa Dumps APC, Set To Join PDP

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Michael Aondoakaa, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and set to join the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the Benue State governorship election.

Aondoakaa, who made this known on his facebook page on Sunday after meeting with former Governor Samuel Ortom in Abuja, thanked the APC for the opportunity given him to serve.

The former minister while calling on supporters and associates to remain calm, peaceful, and steadfast said his new direction aimed at salvaging and repositioning Benue State in the best interest of the people will be communicated in due course.

Aondoakaa stated, “I wish to formally notify the general public of my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective yesterday 28th of March, 2026.

“This decision follows careful reflection and wide consultations with my family, political associates, and supporters. While I remain grateful for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the growth of the party at various levels during my membership, prevailing circumstances have made it necessary for me to take this step in the overall interest of my people and democratic values.

“Finally, I wish to sincerely appreciate the leadership and members of the party in Ushongo Local Government Area, the entire Benue state and beyond for the cooperation and support extended to me over the years. The relationships built and experiences gathered remain invaluable.

“At this critical time, I call on all my supporters and associates to remain calm, peaceful, and steadfast. A new direction aimed at salvaging and repositioning Benue State in the best interest of our people will be communicated in due course,” he said.

However, LEADERSHIP gathered that Michael Aondoakaa and legal luminary, Sebastine Hon, SAN, all Benue APC governorship aspirants will be joining PDP to pursue their governorship ambitions in 2027.
