All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has suspended Senator Barnabas Gemade, Prof Terhemba Shija and other ward chairmen for anti -party activities.
The state party chairman comrade Austin Agada who announced the suspension of the duo during the party’s expanded stakeholders meeting in Makurdi disclosed that Gemade and Shija who were both governorship aspirants of the party in the just-concluded 2023 elections worked with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue to ensure that APC does not have a candidate following their rejection by the people at the primaries.
Agada said, “Most worrisome is their recent activities with the PDP to take the party to court and alleged several issues to ensure that the recent victory is thwarted.”
According to him, the duo worked against the party to ensure that the party have no candidates, especially governorship candidate in the just-concluded general election.
Agada said both of them are conniving with PDP up till date to frustrate the governor-elect, lamenting a situation where an aspirant in the same party will drag its candidate to court just to ensure that the party does not have a candidate.
He said, “The duo are hereby suspended and referred to the factfinding and disciplinary committee for further investigations.”
The party also suspended other five ward executives In Konshisha and Obi for anti-party activities and referred the matter to the factfinding and disciplinary committee for necessary action.
