According to Dr. Olisachebe Hyacinth, Chief Executive Officer of the farm, over 495,000,000,00 worth of growing rice plantation was destroyed, alongside countless equipment where four Vietnamese agro experts also work.

OlishFarm, a 311 hectares mechanized rice farm with all irrigation machineries in MAKURDI LGA has been flushed away by the recent flood that ravaged many parts of the country with so many sad stories. From available statistics, the farm has a staff strength of 157, making it a powerful Nigerian agro player currently suffering the devastation of the present flooding menace.

One of the Vietnamese experts when speaking about the situation disclosed that Nigeria has one of the best soils in the world for the production of rice, and that OlishFarm has the capacity to become a market leader as far as rice cultivation is concerned.

From every indication, the loss or damage imposed by the unfortunate flood upon OlishFarm is colossal owing to the fact that 180 boreholes and pumping machines were parts of the submerged machinery and facilities.

The management of the Farm however looks up to the state, FG and relevant authorities for support to stay alive and continue a business which has the capacity to contribute immensely not only to the GDP of the state, but also that of the federal republic of Nigeria.

However, the farm’s CEO is vehemently appealing for all forms of support
