The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa has promised to strategise and go after the attackers to chase them back to wherever they are coming from, saying “we will take the battle to them and not instead of waiting for them to attack us again.

General Musa stated this when he visited the Yelwata community to see things himself, saying Enough is enough. This is our country, and we will not give it up for anything”

According to him, “I am going to meet with the commanders of security formations to see how we can change the strategies to curb the menace of sustained attacks and killings in Benue communities.”

General Musa, who also condemned the killings, said he came to commiserate with the government and the good people of the State and the bereaved communities for the bloodshed that has bedevilled the State.

He described the attacks and killings as one death too many.

“From here, I am going to see my commanders. We need to change our strategy, look inward and see how to address it. We can’t do it all alone without the State. We will need everybody to be part of the plan, even within us, we have betrayals, and those who volunteer information. If you see the pattern of killings and slaughtering, it was a targeted attack, which means there is an insider”

“I have discussed how we can work in unity with the community, traditional rulers, and clan heads. There have been trust issues, but we will work on it. We are all going out to put measures in place. For us, this will be the last one that will happen.

We are going to go all out to ensure that the system works.

“We have put measures in other places and it worked.  Here is not going to be different. I want to assure  Nigerians, not only in Benue State, that we are determined, based on the mandate of Mr President, to ensure that we restore peace and tranquillity. We need Nigerians to support us; we must work as a team.

“We always have information that these people come and cross borders, wherever they come from. We are going to go after them and chase them away. We must take the battle to them without waiting for them to attack. For the youths, do not give up.  This is our country, we can’t give our country away for anything. And this madness must stop”
