It will commence services today.

The CMD, who spoke through the Hospital’s spokesperson, Cephas Hough said “our CT Scan which has been down for a while is now fixed and will be put to use and noted that patience requiring to use the machine should come to the Radiology Department to obtain the services. Clinicians are to take note of the development”

Upon assumption a few weeks ago, the CMD inspected the hospital alongside the Committee on Health of the Benue State House of Assembly to ascertain the operational status of some medical equipment in the hospital.

Hwande, in an interview after the tour explained that the MRI Machine alone,  if functional will solve over 70 per cent of Radiological diagnosis in the North Central

According to him, “the former administration through the ministry of Health and Human Services had procured two Dialysis Machines and a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Machine, which were installed and commissioned on March 15th, 2023 but never worked till date.

While decrying the economic risk of referring patients outside the state to access medical care elsewhere, Hwande emphasized that, “for us we will do everything possible to ensure that every Benue patient has quality and affordable health care services.

He wondered why a tertiary hospital of this magnitude will not have no facility to handle transplants, brain surgery, cancer management among others adding that aside these other challenges faced in the hospital are water, electricity, lack of manpower among others.

Earlier, the chairman of the committee, Terdzungwe Dugeri who expressed shock over the level of decay at the hospital said all persons involved will be invited to explain the rationale behind the procurement and installation of faulty machines when people are going outside the state to seek for such services.
