The president, represented by the vice president, Kashim Shettima had at the event, said: “More than ever, our public service must live up to its expectation as a public trust where every official must account to the people, and ours is to create an ecosystem where they not only stand out but stand apart from those who sabotage us.

“Even though we have set in place institutional measures to forestall any form of dysfunction in our public service, there are still cracks often exploited by those given the trust of the nation.

“But what we must never get tired of doing is reminding ourselves that our public institutions are not personal enterprises, and for that, each of us is an employee of the Nigerian citizen”.

The award, which is under the National Security category, is coming two years after he won the last one as Bichi was among the outstanding people who received the Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service on October 21, 2022.

Recipients of the NEAPS are persons considered by the federal government to have served with distinction and excellence in both public and private sectors.

Bichi, whose appointment as DGSS was renewed in September 2022, is skilled in intelligence gathering, research analysis, conflict management, general investigation, and risk and vulnerability operations, among others.

The DG, a fellow of the War College was also, on Tuesday October 11, 2022, conferred with the award of the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR), the third highest in order of national awards.

Reacting to this, security expert, Ikenna Umeh, said Bichi is a gentleman, who has distinguished himself as DG DSS and urged him to keep up the good work.
