The Bida Local Government Council has officially named the prominent stretch of road in Bida GRA, formerly known as Model School Road, as Mohammed K. Santuraki Crescent in honor of Dr. Mohammed K. Santuraki, the Santurakin Nupe, a distinguished leader and key stakeholder in the development of Bida, Niger State, and Nigeria.
Dr. Santuraki, a former Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, has made significant contributions to governance, education, and leadership at both state and national levels.
He previously served as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of IBB University, Lapai (Niger State University) and played a pivotal role as Chairman of the Bago/Garba Gubernatorial Inauguration Committee in 2023. In recognition of his exemplary service, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed him Pro-Chancellor & Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, in July 2024.
Announcing the decision, Hon. Alhaji Bala Shaba, Chairman of Bida Local Government, highlighted Dr. Santuraki’s relentless dedication to good governance, community development, and advocacy for the people of Niger State. He commended Dr. Santuraki for his unwavering leadership as the prime mover of the Niger-South Senior Stakeholders Forum, where he has been a vocal advocate and defender of the interests of the Zone.
“This renaming is a testament to Dr. Santuraki’s lifelong commitment to the progress of our people. His leadership, vision, and service continue to inspire many, and we are proud to etch his name into the fabric of Bida’s history,” said Hon. Shaba.
This honor reflects the deep appreciation of the people of Bida for Dr. Santuraki’s enduring contributions and his role in shaping the future of Niger State.
